Our History
The Children of Africa charity was founded by Chrona Garvey, a native of Boyle, County Roscommon in Ireland.
In 2003 and 2004, Chrona took a career break from her work at St Paul Travelers to work as a volunteer with underprivileged children in a low income community in South Africa.
This experience proved to be so life changing for Chrona that on her return to Ireland she decided to do something to help improve the living standards of orphans and vulnerable children
in South Africa by building a proper family home for these children. With support from a group of individuals in Boyle and around Ireland she was able to launch the charity in early 2005.
